I have often misremembered events as having taken place in my own life when in fact they were scenes from a movie, television show, book, or a dream. This slippage is not always appreciated but also telling of a deep desire to at times live vicariously through the simulacra so present in contemporary life. My dreams occasionally play out cinematically with a surprise twist that upon waking thrills me with a realization that my subconscious was able to compose such a compelling and mysterious story, while hiding the intended message like the most talented of authors and screenwriters. Only in dreams; I get to spend some quality time with my Mom, I have a full head of shoulder length hair, and then sometimes I also die. So it goes.
