Mirror, wood, recycled packaging, video camera, projector
2011

Colored packaging material is collected and cut as to divide colors by hue. Cardboard boxes with 12 hues of color are arranged on the ground. A piece of plywood is attached to the wall above the boxes with an oval of mirrors attached to plywood as to allow then to be independently adjusted. The outside mirrors are tilted in a way that the reflections from the boxes of color are directed to a single viewpoint where a video camera is positioned. The center mirror is tilted toward the ground where the light from a spot lit circle of white foamcore hanging from the ceiling at the opposite end of the space is being reflected in an oval mirror on the ground. The video camera is outfitted with a piece of paper with a hole punched through it that masks everything except the mirrors and their reflections. When the camera lens is focused on the piece of paper the image inside the circle becomes a ring of spectral color that blends into a white center. This image as a video feed is projected on the adjacent wall of the space.
